Every week I like to peruse through Kickstarter the notable campaigns launching and closing. This week, I found two newer campaigns that got off to a hot start, and one campaign coming to a successful end. Wizard of Legend and Ikenfell have both jumped to a hot start. Ikenfell’s campaign is nearly funded as of this Sunday. Moonlighter has gone well past its original goal of $40,000 with just a couple of days left.

Ikenfell

Turn based story RPGs tend to be left alone in the indie game sphere due to the shear size of building out a compelling world and story. In addition, we most often find RPGs being drawn to a medieval backdrop, but Ikenfell is bringing their witches and wizards to us with a more modern spin. Chevy Ray Johnston is the one man band looking to take the sweet story of a girl who knows no magic and bring her to a world of witches in order to save her missing sister. Accompanied by the music of aivi & surasshu or Cartoon Network fame, Ikenfell is shaping up to be quite the adventure. Ikenfell is currently planned for Windows and Mac in June 2018, and is looking for almost $20,000 to fund the development of the game.

Wizards of Legend

Wizards of Legend has a greater arcadey feel to its gameplay. The game has a focus on fast-paced spell slinging action. It also is building up an interesting card based spell learning system. Unlike Ikenfell, Wizards of Legend has rogue-like elements to supplant a more focused story. You are a wizard entering a yearly tournament to determine who is worthy of a counsel seat. You will travel to randomly generated labyrinths and fight hundreds of enemies to prove your worth. Contingent99 has already raised $13,000 of the $50,000 it is looking for to complete the game.

Moonlighter

I already wrote about Moonlighter earlier when the game launched its campaign. Since then it has long surpassed its original goal of $40,000 and is looking to more than double that. Seven different stretch goals have been reached, including one expanding NPC interactions. The last day to back the project is July 3rd.
